Engagement Photo Locations in the DMV Area
It all begins with an idea.
If you’re looking for engagement photo location ideas in D.C, Maryland, or Virginia, you’re in the right place!
Engagement photos are a way to capture a special moment in your relationship that only comes once. The photos from your session are ones you can look back on for decades to relive the excitement of the months leading up to your wedding or elopement!
Tips for Choosing:
I suggest choosing a location that is meaningful or sentimental to your relationship. It could be a park where you had your first date, or maybe a go-to brunch spot. If you love drinking wine, choose one of the many beautiful wineries in Northern Virginia. Is hiking your thing? Go with a scenic overlook shoot in Shenandoah National Park. Also, take into consideration the general vibe you’d like for your photos - urban, rural, parks and flowers, monuments, or something else?
Please be sure to contact your location prior to your shoot in case there are any fees or photography permits required. Rules change all the time, and it would not be fun to get kicked out mid-session.
The following locations are some of my favorites in the DMV area. Have a look through, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Georgetown Waterfront Park
Washington, D.C.
Georgetown has plenty to offer for engagement sessions! The waterfront park provides a romantic location close to boutique shops, cafes, and cute neighborhoods. You can even go out for a date after your shoot and make an evening out of it. It can get crowded during nice weather and weekends, but a little editing goes a long way as seen in the fountain photo above.
Fees: none!
